Businesses thinking of purchasing the new iPhone 4G for their employees will have to wait until July 2 at the earliest, Fast Company reports.
As users seeking the latest mobile management device rushed to pre-order the fourth-generation iPhone, AT&T encountered a disastrous security breach, exposing buyers’ personal information. According to Apple, the meltdown was due to more than 600,000 pre-orders – the largest number Apple has ever taken in a single day.
A memo released yesterday by AT&T told employees that the company was temporarily suspending online pre-order placements for the new smartphones, according to Fast Company.
The report stated that some of the service provider’s branches were forced to take orders by hand after the system shutdown.
In rare cases, people’s private information, like their credit card details, was mistakenly sent to the wrong email addresses, Fast Company relays.
The system crash may deter businesses, hoping to provide the latest mobile technology for their employees, from picking up the device. With mobile security being one of the rising concerns for companies, Apple’s recent mishaps involving the iPhone and iPad may cause business leaders to think poorly of the California-based company.
